Root Canal Therapy

Root Canal

A root canal is a treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed, becomes infected, or broken with a nerve exposure.

The treatment is designed to eliminate bacteria from the infected root canal, prevent reinfection of the tooth and save the natural tooth. During the procedure, the inflamed or infected pulp is removed and the inside of the tooth is carefully cleaned and disinfected, then filled and sealed. A post and crown is required after a root canal and can be done at the same appointment.

A fully developed tooth can survive without the pulp because the tooth continues to be nourished by the tissues surrounding it. Having a root canal is painless in most cases and extremely effective. You'll be back to normal in no time!

Root canal procedures in our office normally take one appointment to complete.

Did you know: Sometimes it is less expensive to save your tooth with a root canal than it is to remove and then replace your natural tooth.  Ask us how!
